We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and ****those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war**** whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.

slavery was not bad but when you use skin color as the white man did took a notch up and believe shall pay for this foolishness

This verse gives a list of the women that men are permitted to mary.
Usually a mariage with a slave results in the freedom of the slave.
God knew how dependent people were on the trade of slavery before the new Message was reveiled. SO if you read the Qur'an a little you will notice that God encouraged people who committed sins to either fast for 3 months (depending on the gravity of the sins) OR FREE A SLAVE and this is on many occasions because God knows that is really not easy for men to stop such popular business, this transition has to be done slowly and oh how God is the All-knower !

Before you get all fired up, the Bible condones slavery, too. Not only does it condone slavery, but it condones BEATING your slaves as long as you don't kill them. The Quran is not the only Holy text that condones slavery.

it was done by chrsitians and jews before muslims.
Muslims treated slaves better than anyone esle before them or after them.
Christians and jews took slaves based on there skin color, background, ethnicity, etc...
Muslims took slaves who were prisoners of war and were encouraged to free them as soon as possible and gave them amany chances to earn there freedom, they were also given money for the time they served.
The prophet mohammed himself also adopted one of his slaves as his adopted son. as a rweard for wanting to stay with the prophet rather than going home with his parents, HE CHOOSE THE PROPHET(PBUH) OVER HIS PARENTS.
