Yes---Bible thumpers are offensive & only achieve people becoming more wary of religion--so their actions are completely counter-productive.

Then how do we answer the question posed:
Act 8:27 And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship
Act 8:28 and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
Act 8:29 And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and join this chariot."
Act 8:30 So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?"
Act 8:31 And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
(ESV Translation)
Someone must guide persons. The bible is full of hard sayings that are easily misunderstood. Anyone that spends any time in this forum can see ample evidence of this fact.
People are alienated when the enthusiastic for their faith violate the biblical admonition to share our beliefs in the spirit of love and kindness.

I guess it all depends upon how aggressively they "thump."
There's nothing wrong with a person benignly "witnessing" his faith or beliefs. That's fine.
It's when people get so far gone that they think Jesus gives them carte blanche to get in people's faces and just be abusive "in the name of the Lord."
There are people like that, and that's why we have the "laws of Man;" to protect us from when religious fervor crosses the line into harassment.

Anyone who is trying to be overly aggressive to convert those who believe differently is often counter productive.
The same goes for the Atheists who are trying to convert people who believe in religion.
Even living in the "Bible Belt" of the US, I get exposed to more people trying to "convert" me to atheism than Christianity.

Yes, because they say insulting things about other religions (including Christian denominations that are not part of them), so they end up turning people away from their mission.

Wow...you seem a little upset with your rant.
Perhaps calming down would be a good start for you...and maybe shorter sentences.
