apparently because your skin goes all goose bumpy and sweaty, like a... well, like a cold turkey!

honestly it is because when you come off the beer (i can't talk about drugs) you get really cold and your skin looks likes a turkey.you also shiver and can' t control it so your head moves in a turkey fashion. Alcohol affects every part of your body except the inner ear! It is a horrible disease!

Apparently it's because you come out in hot and cold sweats, giving your skin the appearance of a cold turkey. Yuk!

i think it is because on christmas day you tend to eat turkey and make merry with the drink and on boxing day you give up the drink and eat cold turkey left overs

Because your body goes into withdrawal. Depending on how long you have been smoking, drinking, or doing drugs, your body gets accustomed to it, and finds the need for it, hence, the addiction. If you abruptyl withdraw it, your body tends to react indifferently to what it was used to, and one of the signs you will see, are goose pimples or goosebumps, which usuallty appear on a normal person when it is "cold".

i think its because withdrawal symptoms make you cold, pale and goose-bumpy like a cold turkey. this seems to make sense but i could be wrong.

withdrawing of opiates sends your body into cold sweats.. your skin turn goosepimply like a turkey.. not to sure if this happens comming of other drugs though!!
they tend to chuck the term around when comming of anything these days 'EVEN CHOCALATE!!!...
