Promote growth - Nioxin - It's a full line that has shampoos and conditioners, styling products and special scalp treatments.

Promote Flat Hair - Redken, Pureology, Paul Mitchell, Sexy Hair Concepts...most high end lines have products formulated to promote flat or straight hair. Any heavy deep conditioner will weigh hair down. Look for products that have a thick, creamy consistency. Anything for damaged or dry hair will do the trick as many of them have heavy, smoothing conditioners and oils.

M.D. Alison C has great advice for thin hair. As to henna, amla, and indigo, henna is the only one that will actually thicken hair, since the dye molecule bonds to the keratin in the hair, creating a translucent covering over the hair. The more you henna, the smoother the hair shaft becomes, as the henna fills in cracks and fissures. It won't make really bad hair supermodel perfect, but it will bring shine and softness back to damaged hair. Cassia obotava, also called senna and blond, colorless, or neutral henna (it's not henna though), is also great for making hair softer and smoother. It has a pale gold color that usually won't show up except on grey or light blond hair, and acts like henna to condition your hair. Since it's usually not used for color, most people don't leave it on as long. Indigo doesn't actually do anything good for your hair, it's a little alkaline and using it a lot can make your hair dryer, although it's much better than commercial hair dyes. Use it only if you want dark brown or black hair instead of the red tones than henna alone would give you. Amla is a good astringent and helps bring out curls, but that means it's stripping the oils from the hair, which may not be something you want.
