the elastics keep your teeth from moving the wrong way...

there are different types of wires designed to move your teeth different ways...i had one wire to move my teeth back and forth...like cause they were sticking out and i had a spring to move them over...and my orthodontist explained to me that if i didnt wear my rubber bands that i would get buck teeth and would have to wear my braces for longer

i hope this helps!

bottom line-just wear them they're gonna help to fix your teeth!

(ps i ate with them in..MUCH easier)

Elastics pull either the top of the bottom of your jaw. I had an overbite, and a lisp. I wore elastics for a few months, and I got off them last week, and now my jaws are lined up and I don't have a lisp anymore!

Go to www.cassidyortho.com

Click on braces in action, then click Overbite, Protruding front teeth. It shows you how her jaw got pulled forward, probably done by elastics.

~ That's the cheapest part of your braces... everyone knows that it keeps pressure applied in the directions the doctor calls for... to guide your teeth to the correct position.

~ Just cause it''s uncomfortable to feel the rubber bands, you'll get over it, and thank your parents some day, after seeing how 'jacked-up' your teeth were BEFORE, and, as a person picked as having the nicest smile in the Year Book.

~ What's the point of going to sleep every night?
~ What's the point of putting gasoline in the car's gas tank?
~ What's the point of eating?

~ Get over it...

it's true that the elastics keep your teeth from moving the wrong way. for some people elastics are a way to express themselves with the option of choosing a color or a pattern. you shouldn't get the clear elastics, they will become yellow.

i'm getting braces soon :)
