We breed for a living, and also live in an area where Parvo is a problem. We make sure our dog lot is secure against other animals crossing through it, and no people walk there either.
Don't let your mommies run loose outside, that's a good way to track in bacteria from other areas. Make sure you take off your shoes as soon as you come inside as it can be carried on the bottom of your shoes. And be absolutely sure you wash and sanitize your hands before you touch the babies! We take these same precautions and haven't lost a pup yet. They all have their first shots (doesn't protect totally, but it's better than nothing) before they meet their new mommies and daddies, so it's less of a danger being handled by strangers.

Keep your puppies at home and disinfect your floors with bleach if you can. Bleach is the only thing that will kill the parvo virus. Stay away from other dogs with unknown vaccination status. Parvo can be transmitted through shoes and clothes!!! If you have parvo in your area it is most likely to be in your backyard as well. Birds, squirrels and other animals can carry it from place to place. Spray your yard or the place where the mother dog and the pups go to the bathroom with a water-bleach solution. Washing and disinfecting your hands is also very important.

Bleach can kill Parvo, so keeping the area where the pups are clean with a bleach-water mixutre will help reduce their exposure to Parvo in your area. Make sure you mop up and dry off anything treated with the bleach so the puppies can't walk or wallow in it. Bleach is very corrosive and can hurt the puppies' delicate skin.
Also, whenever you come in from outdoors, remove your shoes before walking into the area where the pups are so you don't track in germs and debris. And if you've handled any of the dogs in your neighborhood, wash your hands and change your clothes before touching the pups.
Don't let other dogs or other people near the puppies until they're fully vaccinated.

I would not put them on the ground anywhere that other dogs may be. Even while in the pet store when they are older, don't put them on the floor. Basically, inside the back yard or your house until they are FULLY vaccinated. Once they are done with the entire series, you may have them around other dogs. I am also in an area where it has been prevalant, and this is what the rescue I work with has done to prevent it. About the cleaning products, a very strong bleach solution can help, but parvo is very hard to kill if it makes it on to a surface.

my dog is a parvo survior.. parvo can be spread into your yard and house by any critter (birds, squirrels, mice, bugs..etc).. we used a bleach solution and sprayed the entire yard (grass and all..and it didn't kill the grass) our entire house was cleaned floor to ceiling with the bleach.. all of our clothes furniture and carpet were cleaned with bleach as well.. if parvo is in your area, you can even bring it into the house by walking thru an area infested with the parvo virus.. it can get on your clothes and then into your house.. best thing to do is keep the puppies inside until they are old enough for vaccinations.. even if you live in an area where it freezes in the winter,.. parvo will survive that... i would recommend using a spray bottle with bleach solution in it and spray the area where the puppies will go out to use the bathroom about 15 - 30 minutes before you let them out...

As long as the mother has been kept up to date on her vaccinations the pups are alright. Don't allow any other dogs to be in the house or around your dogs and pups. Don't use a spray around your animals as that could really irritate them. Just keep the area that they are in nice and clean. Can use diluted bleach water solution to clean. Is a good disinfectant and is cheap. The main thing is to keep them clean and isolated from strange animals.. They will get some natural immumity from the mothers milk. Check with the vet in your area to see when the pups can have their first shots.

seemings how parvo can be transported from one area to another by for say a bird the best thing that you should do for the puppies is call a vet and see what you can do to santatize the yard before letting them out. parvo don't joke around and is hard to pull a dog out of it once they have it without taking them to the vet.

Spay and neuter, and you won't have this problem.
Don't let the puppies outside. Don't let them walk on grass. Use lots of bleach on the walkways leading into your house. Parvo can live for 2 years in your yard and house, so if you've ever had a parvo case in your house I would get those puppies out of there ASAP.

Keep them at home, and do not let any stranger dogs interact with them, unless you know they're vaccinated.
If you take them to a vet clinic (or anywhere else), do not allow them on the floor, and bring a towel, to place on counters & other areas you may need to set the puppies down on.
