Because people are *******, that's why. Don't let'em get to you. Keep your head up. Personality is what counts. And you'll go far with that good personality of yours, trust me.

I grew up in a family where my mom, sister, and brother were overweight (my father died when I was very young but he was very overweight also). My mom got gastric bypass surgery and now weights about 160 pounds. Although she was very overweight and people did develop a sterotype about her after they first met her- she has started her own business in a male dominated industry (clinical trials) and is already retired at the age of 47. My sister also was morbidly obese and got gastric bypass surgery. Although she was very heavy she didnt let that stop her, and was voted "most friendly" at her highschool, she graduated as valedictorian and now attends Yale.

The point is, people will judge you your whole life. Its a fact that whithin the first 5 minutes of meeting someone, that person has already decided if they are going to be friends with them. There is always something that people arent going to liek about you, but you just have to overcome that. People are going to judge you but who cares- they dont know you, they dont know what a great personality you have, and if they dont take the time to explore it, and meet you as a person, not just an image, then its there loss in the end, and your gain- you dont want friends who are that closeminded anyway.

you meant overweight... well, I don't think it's right to judge someone solely on that basis. I've known overweight people that are nice and I've known normal weight people that are nice, but if I would have to pick a close friend for doing my favorite activities with, well I'll be honest I think I would prefer someone who is not overweight. It's not fun to be around someone who can't do a lot of the fun things I enjoy doing. I like to be active, walk, bike, hike, run around, and I have yet to find a person that is significantly overweight that can keep up with me. Also, there are the visual aspects of morbid obesity (you may not be), but last year at the July 4th parade this very obese woman was in the parade. She was in a wheelchair and her thighs or whatever you call the back of her legs dangled so low they almost reached the ground... I just about puked seeing that. It was disgusting!.
What you need to do is not ask why people judge you because of your weight, but why some nasty overweight people make other decent overweight people look so bad.

There is this unsaid stigma that overweight people are lazy and stupid..... I am smart, funny and have a good personality but people will often make the mistake of thinking I am stupid and won't take me seriously. They are mistaken and it doesn't take long for them to realize that. It used to bother me...the skinny chick with the dumb ideas would get all the attention in the meeting but me, with my size 14 butt and a lot of realistic plans would be ignored.

Honestly, you can't change the way people see you - you can only change what they see. Once I realized this, I discovered that I don't care what those people think. I work hard and am proud of myself.... It's been my experience that once you start not caring and you have that self-confidence, those idiots start taking you more seriously because they see that you are taking yourself more seriously.

Do they judge you? Or are they simply unattracted to you?

Do people insult you because of your weight problem? If so, they're being shallow and immature. Ignore them, if you can.

On the other hand, attraction is a complex thing, and try as we might, we can't convince ourselves to be interested in someone whom we are not at least somewhat physically attracted to. Even overweight people tend to be more attracted to beautiful people than to other overweight people. Take heart in the fact that there are some people out there who consider personality to be infinitely more interesting than looks however!

Depends what you call a good personality. What you might call a good personality, someone else might find annoying and rude.

The thing that turns people off from overweight people is that they give off the vibe that they don't take care of themselves. If you happen to be overweight, comb your hair, brush your teeth, wear cologne, dress nice, and show some confidence. You'd be surprised at the difference in the way people will see you.

People judge us all the time, overweight or not. Are you bothered with your weight? If you are, then you would always feel bad, but if you chill out and accept the fact that you've got that shining personality then who cares? flaunt your other assets and live the good life. Live is too short don't waste it with worrying.

people live in such a 3 deminional world and don't realize that there is more than what they see and if they cant see past the physical world they are missing soo much . Try not to let something like this bother you too much . Just remember that they don't know what there missing.

It's sad but people don't have anything better to do!
I dated someone that was over 300 lbs and we got stared at all the time. I'm really small but I didn't care how big he was...he was good to me and that's all that matterd.

You do you're thing! Don't worry about that so much...people will look at anybody just because they are different...nobody is perfect...society is the one messed up!!!

People are always going to judge you on your appearance. That's the way things are, so unfortunately, get used to it. On the plus side, you always have the option of losing weight if you want to.
