What is lip service anyway?

"lip service" is actually when a person says one thing when he/she really means another.
In other words, you pay the cop "lip service" (yes sir, that's right officer, I'll be more careful next time, I realize speeding is wrong) when he pulls you over but then you forget about it 3 minutes later.
'lip service' as a colloquial expression can also mean fellatio or cunnilingus

AH! I use to do this when I was in catholic school. Lip service is basically you move your lips without actually saying anything or have no voice coming out of your mouth. It is also used to describe when you just say the word or just say a prayer and have no meaning behind it.
Never got caught during mass and prayer in a catholic school.
glad I gave up religion a long time ago.

Lip service is telling someone what they want to hear. So in this case, Sho-nuff, it's your lips doing the service if your giving lip service to god.

This means to speak about God, to praise him with your lips and physically worship him with your lips---but some do this and their hearts are far from Him....meaning they are just wanting to look christian on the "outside" but inside they are not living for the Lord, nor loving Him like they should.
And God knows EVERY single person's heart. I pray with all my heart that I NEVER end up just being of lip service to Him --but that I will always praise Him and love Him with my whole Heart, Soul, Mind and Strength!

It refers to YOUR lips, not God's.
To pay lip service means to talk about doing the right thing, but not really following up with action.

"Lip service" refers to people who go to church on Sundays, repeat what the priest tells them to say without putting any real thought into it, and then goes home and doesn't give the Lord a second thought throughout their week. It is basically a person who isn't truly spiritual. They feel that going to church every Sunday is all they need to get into heaven. It is usually referring to the catholic church system.

Lip service is when you are talking about something even if you don't believe it.
so a god doesn't even need to exist to get it.

jesusian gods have bodies, and some eat them every sunday, and drink their blood as well, so for them that would be "lip service"...

Ahh another one that never read his/her bible... God indeed has a body.. read genesis.. sheesh really for once READ the text.. quit taking preacher joes word for it.. its QUITE clear.. and specific..
As to what lip service is.. well that means basically ya talk the talk but ya dont walk the walk.. (Blah blah blah talk talk talk.. but you dont LIVE what ya talk.. hollow empty "lip service")

you will never can give God lips service because He looks into your heart not your mouth. If you want to please Him then just shape and have faith in your heart then God will happy to see you. Good Luck
