The collector is internally connected to the case.
Pin 1 is base
Pin 2 is Emitter

A 2N3055 is an NPN bi-polar power transistor in a TO-5 case. The collector is the metal case. If your circuit requires the transistor to dissipate high power, then you must mount it to a heat sink. If you hold the transistor in your hand with the two pins facing you, orient it such that the two pins are closest to the sky. (up) Then the base will be the left pin and the emitter will be the right pin. If you need to have the collector (case) electrically isolated from the heat sink, then you will need a mounting kit which will include some shoulder washers, and an insulator, and screws. (Radio Shack stuff)
But if your power levels are very low, say under 0.6 watt or so, then no heat sink is required.
