Ever said that to yourself about your baby?
Well I am putting together a booklet for a friend of mine that is expecting her first child. I am looking for helpful hints from people that they wish they had gotten before their child arrived.
The kind of hints that I am looking for are:
Change the baby before you feed her,
and funny ones like
No matter how smart your husband thinks he is he will not be able to use a car seat.

Yes I know I already asked this question, but I only got 4 responses so I thought I would ask it again.

Carry not only extra baby outfits but extra mommy outfits. How many times have you been out and about and been spit up on or had a diaper malfunction?

I have 5 children, and it was only after a visit from my mum with my 5th child, that I learnt that sometimes when baby is grumbly in the crib, all s/he needs is to have his/her position changed.
Nothing radical like moving them from back to front, but maybe moving them on to their side. It worked really well for my youngest daughter, and I was able to get an extra half hour between feeds which helped enormously.
If I had known that with my first life could have been a lot easier!!
Great idea for a gift by the way, wish I had one when I had my first one!!

For the first few months always keep some kind of baby wipe or cloth over the babies privates when changing a diaper. My son peed all over me EVERY time I changed his diaper for the first 2 weeks. I then learned my lesson and kept him covered the whole time!

Only colostrum comes out for the first few days and thats all the baby needs...

uhmm...

They will start nursing like MAD and it will be a growth spurt...

Its OKAY to sleep with your baby.

Babies don't need baths everyday, and you dont have to use soap.

You dont need 99% of the stuff you got for your baby.

Never nurse a naked baby, and never take a temp before theyve gone poop that day!

Wait until I know she's done pooping to change her diaper! Yes i've gotten pooped on. And yes I've had to catch poop in a baby wipe as I was changing her. And yes I've had to change her like 3 times in the course of 10 mins. She was a big pooper! Daddys proud of her! : )

When putting on a sleeper put feet in before arms.
Don't use clothes with buttons up the back. Hello you change the baby with them on their backs.
