I just bought a new straightening iron a week ago because I've had my old one for a long time and decided it was time to update. Well, I didn't go buy a Chi because I've used one before and didn't really like the results, so I just bought the brand I already had..Jibere (sp?). Anyway, the first time I used it, it had an electrical type smell which I figured was because it was brand new, but it smells like that every time I plug it in and use it. Is this normal? Should I return it or buy a different one? Is there anything I can do to make the smell go away? Oh, and I always straighten my hair after I wash and blow dry it. Thanks for any advice.

When you open a straightener for the first time and heat it up and put it on your hair it still wreaks of the plastic that it has been rapped up in for so long. And straighteners burn your hair, so it could smell of fire.

Thats normal. There is an oily coating on the plates that will burn off the first few times its plugged in. It won't hurt a thing!

definite, they continuously scent extremely undesirable on the beginning up. i've got purely started using a clean one and it smells undesirable, yet i understand from destiny adventure that the scent will bypass away at last. :)
