That's a pretty accurate assessment, in my opinion. It seems that with time the separation between church and state has become a more and more controversial and debated issue. However, at the same time, "church" has inserted itself into state affairs more frequently. Hopefully this trend doesn't continue to worsen, but being a pessimist, I think it probably will.

yup, but it's probably because our president says things like this

"I appreciate that question because I, in the state of Texas, had heard a lot of discussion about a faith-based initiative eroding the important BRIDGE between church and state."

"Through my Faith-Based and Community Initiative, my Administration continues to encourage the essential work of faith-based and community organizations. Governments can and should support effective social services, including those provided by religious people and organizations. When government gives that support, it is important that faith-based institutions not be forced to change their religious character."

Yes, I have that feeling often. Especially when I see that 2 consenting adults are not allowed to enter into a legal contract called marriage because of their gender.

my problem with the whole wall idea is that its taken as an excuse to attack religeon rather than what its original intention was ... to protect freedom of religeon ...
