I have just had my hair straightened on Friday 16th and by sunday I noticed stubble on my hair line by tea time it covered my crown.
How can I stop it getting worse. I am so miserable, my hairdresser has been of little help stating that this can happen and not to wash it for a week but its getting worse each day and I want to know if there is something I should be doing sooner rather than later.

thanks just to let you know I do not have afro hair it is wavy / curly hair that can be straightened with hair straighteners normally. I went for the relaxer cos I was sick of straightening it manually and the hairdresser recommended it for the style i ask for a bob

i think what may have happened is that the hairdresser used a relaxer which was too strong for your hair..if your hair is just wavy-to curly, she may have used a strength that would be more suitable to an afro hair type as this is thicker and needs more chemicals to penetrate it. The hairdresser is definitely at fault and should have done a patch test on the hair at the base of your neck anyway. Still try the conditioning treatment, but also talk to the head of that salon and make sure they pay for all the treatments to sort this out. Don't panic, your hair will be ok, if you really hate how the front looks, you could get a fringe cut to cover over until the hair grow s back at..plus this will look lovely with your bob, like a graduated sweep. best of luck.

hmmm...not fun for you at all. Did your hair dresser put a relaxer on your hair? the fact that you went to the hair dressers to have you hair straightened makes me think that you have either afro type hair or extremely curly.. so working on that basis, maybe your hair cuticles are under a lot of stress because they've been moved from their natural way of lying. I would say you need to put as much moisture back into your hair as possible so that it can get some spring back and nourishment. Tonight, have a warm to hot bath to open up the hair, wash it in a gentle shampoo...like a baby one if possible to try to remove some of the chemical but without stripping the hair of too much of its own grease. Then put as much deep penetrating conditioner on as possible. Wrap a hot towel around your hair still with the treatment on and leave it for at least 15 mins. gentley rinse your hair. Finishing with a cool water rinse so as to close the cuticles (like a toner). Don't use a hair dryer, or straighteners. let it dry naturally, if you're up for it you could cover the hair whilst damp in coconut oil, massage it in at the roots and sleep with a shower cap on and try the conditioner in the morning again. It's all about replenishing. Don't do any strenuous hair styles like french plaits or cain rows. And then go and see another hairdresser ASAP...no more chemicals though!!! Good luck oh and vitamin E is what you need to build strength up again, the body shop does a range with it in..and get the capsules to take too.

Go to a dermatologist ASAP!!! They can look at your scalp and give you a treatment to stop hair breakage, as well as regrow new hair. I would also recommend finding whoever or whatever product straightened your hair, because something may have been wrong that did this to your hair. Whatever you do, don't hide inside until it is completely stubble.

I would suggest you go to ANOTHER hairdresser (someone recommended or of prestige) and see what he or she suggest to correct the problem. If they believe that the original hairdresser that put in the relaxer is at fault and did something wrong, get a specified statement of what is wrong with your hair and sue in small claims civil case. Take pictures before going to the new hairdresser. Good luck!

It sounds like the 'relaxer' has made your hair dry. I don't know if it will work but you could go to the chemists and get some almond oil, leave in over night and it will give your hair a moisture boost. Apart from that I am not sure what you could do.
