Well 5 - 10 years ago I guess I was wanting a boyfriend or to be in a relationship but I wasn't necessarily looking for marriage. Truth be told, even though I'm now engaged, I wasn't totally sold on the idea of marriage at all. I despise being pinned down and "possessed". But what I realize now is that I never "really" knew love until I met my fiance. Now I can't get enough, we spend so much time together and it doesn't bug me. I will admit that every once in a great while, he'll hold me or pull on me or kiss me, and I'm like "ugh, get off of me!" but just because I'm being moody at the moment but for the most part, I love it. So what's changed is 1, I'm older and realize what real love is (I'm 36) and 2 it's not all about great sex (though I'm having great sex) it's about commitment and working things out together and more importantly spending the necessary time apart - even married couples need space every now and again.

Now I'm 21. 5 years ago I was 16. Oh man, have things changed. At 16 i was much more worried about looks and reputations. As i'm sure many 16 year olds are. I wanted to love the boys that my mom hated. Having a boyfriend was high up on my list of important t hings. Now I know that I can be me and have a great time doing it, without a boyfriend. I currently am with someone, and he's amazing. His personality is great -funny, smart...everything. But I'm not dependant on him. I feel like many high school teenagers feel like they NEED their boyfriends to make them complete...they dont make you complete...they're just a perk :)

5-10 years ago, I was the most important thing in the relationship. Now, I am able to think and see things from others perspectives.

what is important to me now is the sincerity of the attention and love I get and give. Ten years ago I was happy with any attention at all. it has changed because I have changed. After a while I learned that the true attention is more valuable to me than the superficial attention. It made me more friendly once I realized that and I stopped giving the superficial kind and try to only give the true kind. especially in relationships, because most people seem to get annoyed with the not so true attention people give them, and seem really happy with some real and true interest in them.
