Its so hard for me to live, I cant do anything I WANT to do. I have to check myself literally every five minutes to make sure nothing on my body needs to be fixed, hair, makeup etc.. My whole life is lived by these imaginary laws that my mind created and my body is forced to follow. The only time Im free is when Im asleep and there is no point in living just to sleep! I been diagnosed as ocd, please someone tell me my life isnt going to be like this forever, ive been this way since i was like 7. At 7 years old i was scared to go near my mom cuz these horrible thoughts of me killing her ran through my mind. My doc also said that ocd too, please tell me there is hope for this to end..

You need to go to a psychiatrist and if you already do than you should go to a different one. There are medications that will help as well. You don't have to live like this forever. OCD can rule your life, but it's actually one of the easier mental problems to solve. With some hard work you can free yourself of the rules. You have to break the rules, don't do your rituals. There will be a lot of anxiety in the beginning, but after time the anxiety will be gone. It will be hard, but you will be so glad that you did it. Just remember that the anxiety can't hurt you and everything will be fine. And over time you will prove that to yourself. Good luck.

It sounds like a chemical imbalance causing what's happening to you. I believe I have a chemical imbalance, which causes asperger's disorder (a mild form of autism). This causes me anxiety, and I'm on medication for it, but I still lead a functional life.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to go see a psychiatrist, or therapist. If you feel urgently about this, you should try finding an emergency room with psychiatric services. It's always good to know there are professionals ready to help when you need it. Mental disorders don't quit at 5 pm.

Lots of therapy and some anti-anxiety medication would help. OCD is a neurotic disorder as opposed to psychotic. Neurotic means it is "self manifested" and therefore gets more severe over time if it is not dealt with properly. Psychotic disorders are biological in nature and can not really be totally helped through therapy. Usually neurotic disorders have some chemical imbalance involved that can be set back in check with some SSRI's or something. I would definitely go see a psychiatrist. The sooner you start therapy, the sooner you will be on the road to recovery. P.S. I am not a psychologist, I have a bachelor's degree in Psy. and that's all, so get professional help for a professional diagnosis and treatment.

You wont feel like this forever, everyone has there quarks. The good thing is at least you know what causes it, now you just have to find ways to deal with it. counciling and medication could help, but if you are not sure about these options then try to consciously make yourself destracted by some other activity. Your right that there is no point in living to sleep (though sometimes it would be nice). Its obvious that you want to change or you wouldnt be asking for advice. Because you want to change you will, trust me. if you need someone to talk to email me anytime at pippinsgirl6@yahoo.com good luck to you

Your problems are more deeply rooted than just OCD, little one....someone has put tremendous guilt on you...and broke your confidence...all little kids think bad things once in a while, and maybe you were mad at your mom because she disciplined you or something, but wanting to kill a parent at a young age of seven, is very telling to me...There is a drug called Luvox, which has been a life saver for my son, and to control the panic attacks,he also uses xanax, in a very limited, and mild form..because xanax can cause seizures and forgetfulness also at times....but your problems, need to be told to your Father in Heaven, and through His Son, Jesus...pray for help from Them, There is no problem They cannot fix, if They so choose......God Bless little one, and I hope you can forgive the people who have wronged you so deeply...

Try to find a psychiatrist and therapist that work in tandem. Therapy isn't enough. OCD is a brain chemistry imbalance that can be relieved with psychiatric drugs and behavior modification.

Don't be ashamed to get help. Our society still treats people with brain chemical disorders as if they are weak or lazy, but is just as real as diabetes or cancer.

Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon

Talk to your doctor about medications for the OCD symptoms. There are anti-depressant and anti-anxiety meds that can be used to treat OCD. Also get into therapy with a therapist with experienced with working with OCD.

Do you have a counselor? Maybe some therapy and/or medication would ease your symptoms. Life can be good again.
