Yes I've known quite a few people who go by their middle name....especially in school. When they do the whole attendance thing the first day obviously they'll be calling her by her first name & all she has to tell them is that she goes by "[middle name]". The only time you or she would have to use her first name is for anything official of course that would require her legal first name.
I knew a guy in high school named John & it wasn't until after we all graduated that I learned that was his middle name. His first was Jack but he didn't like it. An ex of mine goes by Mikey but Michael is his middle name. His first name is Gary but his whole family has been calling him by Michael or Mikey for as long as he can remember.

Yes, but her first name has to be on the papers also. She just goes by the middle I named my daughter after my mom and my daughter hates her first name so she uses her middle and so does the school

Yes; she will still have to put her legal name on official-type documents, but she can call herself and be called anything she wishes. I have two cousins, both of whom use their middle names on an every-day basis; when I was a kid, I didn't even know they HAD other names until I was about ten years old!

You will have to provide the school with her legal name, but often school enrollment forms will have a place where you can list her "known as" name. I worked in a school office for many years, and we dealt with this all the time. Just be sure to let the school know.

I think it's fine to call her by her middle name. At school you will still need to enroll her by her first name, but you can make your preferance known that she should be addressed by her middle name in class. She should tell the teacher this too on the first day of school. My husband goes by his middle name.

In school we usually had the teacher originally call them by their first name and ask for a nickname after that for the rest of the year. She can go by any name but I think paperwork and whatnot have to have her real name on them.

You still need to put here legal first name on all registrations, etc. Since she'll answer to that name and introduce herself as that name, people will call her that, but unless you have her named legally changed, her first name will be Emily.

Yes this can be done. It's very common these days. My boyfriend actually goes by his middle name instead of his first name. They might call her by her first name the first day but she can tell her teacher what she prefers to be called.

I just filled out my daughters school forms and it actually specifies on the paper if there is another name we'd prefer her to be called at school. I know many kids that are called something different than their original names and as long as you specify that with the school it shouldn't be a problem. Again...that's cool where we live!

She can go by however you register her. Use the first initial of the first name and spell out her middle name. That will tell someone that the middle name should be used reguarly.
