I remember in my neighborhood growing up,I used to hear different immigrant groups complain about each other and the Caucasians would move away because they didn't like the immigrants at all.

Currently the lower income groups are the hit the worst, which includes our legal immigrants. However, the 1986 amnesty put a huge curve in that since up to 1/3 of the illegals currently here are reputed to be relatives of those who got amnesty. Obviously, those immigrants, though NOW legal, would be pro-illegal immigrant.
I think it is economics not race.
EXCEPT I think that those who make racist statements can make legal immigrants feel it is an attack on them too, and then it is polarizing.

Are you making this a racist question? Are you a racist BLACK? Racist Hispanic!? And if you are why? I would dearly love to see your response! But I doubt that you will though.
As a matter of fact the state where I am at has to worry about illegal aliens from across the river as well as Hispanics. Most people would not mind if illegal aliens came over legal or illegal as long as:
They paid taxes from day one.
They are treated the same as taxpaying citizens, when comes to services. Right now the way it is they earn more then I do because I pay taxes on what I earn and because I work a part time job I can not get state services. However when an illegal alien takes a job, he has no taxes taken out. When he goes for services he has no taxes to prove he is working, hence the state gives him services. In an indirect way taxpayers are supplementing small business when they hire illegal aliens. Because we the taxpayers are left holding the bag to pay on services then, what small business doesn't.
They observe the laws when they are here.
So if that were to happen, no I would not mind. Am I racist? I don't think so. I just want it to be fair to the citizens already here or naturalized paying taxes.
As for your question. In the southwest the American and naturalized Hispanics are ticked, you know the ones that came over by the book and worked at getting here that is why they are ticked.

Immigrants? The more the merrier.
Illegal aliens.....anyone that believes in the law.
************
You may think your question is simple but not everything is a black and white issue (pun both intended and not intended). It's not about if blacks or whites dislike illegals more, it's not even a race issue, the pro-illegals make it one. It's a legal issue, a drain on our economy issue. So you may WANT it to be simple, but it's not.
I work with a Puerto Rican, a black man is my immediate supervisor, a Wiccan is the quality manager, a christian is the VP and the company is owned by Jews.....they all have issues with illegal aliens. And so does most of the people of all beautiful colors that I have come across. So it's not a simple black and white or brown or yellow or red issue. It's an issue of what is more important to you? That your children who are legal get the education that you pay for without having to worry that the teacher will be spending time trying to communicate with a kid who doesn't speak English, that if you need medical assistance the system isn't clogged up by anchor babies getting health coverage that you pay for. Or that people who start off their lives in America (or any country) illegal should be treated not only equal but better then the people who came here legally or were born here.
You choose. But there is no simple answer, no matter how bad you may want it to be.

I really don't know. Everyone seems too afraid to complain about it in the open for fear of the "R" word. The only complaining I hear about it is on the Internet. I do think that all legal Americans should be outraged by it though.

I don't really call it complaining. I call it concern . and since I live in a border state,it has a negative affect on people of all socioeconomic back grounds. The financially well off may have the means to avoid living in so called "illegal aliens " areas of a city. But that doesn't mean he/she is blind or immune to the severity of the problem.
The schools are a major talking point.the over crowding ,the teachers that quit because of conditions in our schools, the high rising crime rate in our state, the increase in incarcerations . That are so high that we are shipping prisoners to other states to do their time. In my city and state I hear this over and over and from people of all "so called classes". The poor, the wealthy, the middle income, the white, black,Asian.first Americans and people of Latin heritage that are legal Americans.
Its not a white issue or any other people. Its a national issue and every one "complains" about it.
Its simply not a race problem ,its an illegal alien from any where problem. I don't play race cards . Its so over played until it means nothing .

It would be the non-race-specific legal citizens who complain about ILLEGAL immigration.
I don't know who is complaining about immigrants, especially the legal ones.

If you mean LEGAL immigrants, not many. ILLEGAL aliens, I don't think there is a difference.
BTW, this ILLEGAL alien problem has nothing to do with race. It is about the law. When someone brings out the "race card," they are probably racist.
