Please, typing God says he is the one God proves nothing but an overgrown ego and hubris.

Riegan, I'll bet there are fewer than a dozen responses from Christians.

wow, thats a great question, i love it!
you will be quoted bible versus for sure on this one!
what if the christian god is just a bully god and says the other ones don't exist? because you're right, if you can believe that one is real, there is nothing to prove that the others are not!
what if we haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg on gods?

did Stpoly's post just prove me right?

I do accept the proposition, and I could not prove that there are not an infinite number of gods, in the same manner that you can neither prove the nonexistence of one or an infinite number of gods. Now I don't feel any need to prove God's existence just as I assume you don't feel a need to prove His nonexistence. Certainly His existence or nonexistence is not dependent on either my ability to prove it or your ability to disprove it.

The idea of a proof is somewhat misguided in this context anyway. What standard of proof are we talking about? Scientific method is one, of course we execute folks with less proof than that. Proof beyond a reasonable doubt, or preponderance of the evidence are other standards, but what is acceptable evidence? You'd probably object to witnesses who claim to have seen or spoken directly to God. (I haven't done that by the way).

What it really boils down to, at least for me is that there have been instances which have occurred that seem to have a hint of the divine. Certainly I can't prove that, I just have an intuitive feeling. My other intuitive feeling is that no one can conceive the actual truth.

I thought I would have ask this question myself. In fact, Jewish/Christian/Muslim beliefs often tell us that there is only one God and there are no other Gods.

However, they are forgetting this point. In fact, it has been stated in their very own scriptures various times that their God is a 'Jealous' God, and despise those who worship other 'Gods'. What do they have to say about the existence of other Gods? Certainly they can't absolutely blame other Gods for being evil.

Everyone has their own rights and understanding to perceive and acknowledge without prejudice on what they truly understand, not just a matter of faith and belief.

If there are an infinite amount of Gods-as you say-they would fight together and ther would be no stability in the world until the strongest of them get rid of the others. It's logic.

It's kind of easy for me. In my philosophy God is everything, there can be only one everything. I don't know how people who believe in an anthropomorphic God are going prove there is not more than one. It will be interesting to read how they go about it.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I leave the basis for God open til the day I die and are priveleged to learn what we cannot know in physical form.

But personally, I believe that every religion has a piece of THE divine puzzle that IS existence.

God Himself said that He is One. Three persons in one, Father, Son Holy Spirit. The Early Church Fathers wrote extensively on this subject. It's about 2000 years old! Read St. Irenaeus' book, "Against Heresies". You can find it at. . . .

Why infinite?

There are some gods is a valid logical alternative to monotheism.
