Here's what I've learned from working in a salon:
Not sure about how to keep the smell in your hair (maybe try a stronger smelling shampoo?) but as for shine try going to a salon for a gloss treatment. Its just a clear gloss they brush on, a smiliar process to dying your hair. They slap it on, leave it to process and wash it out. Lasts for a couple months. Not sure about prices where you live but it's not that expensive. Or just go to the drugstore, some box dyes have shine treaments too.

Also, try a purifying shampoo. Hair can get really dull because of product and shampoo buildup. Depending on how much product you use, shampoo with it once in a while. I usually do it once every couple weeks, or whenever my hair feels gross. It just gets rid of any buildup in your hair and scalp. Waxy pomades especially - it takes at least 3 washes to fully get it out of your hair. Most salon brands have one in their line. Watch out if your hair is colored though, get one thats safe or it'll strip the color. I use Pureology Purify, it's awesome and doesnt strip color. Environment can affect your hair too, so even if you don't use product try a purifying shampoo anyways. Even deep conditioners can leave buildup because they are thicker than regular conditioners and they can leave a coating on the hair that dulls it. But if your hair is unhealthy too then use a deep conditoner once a week (depending on how bad your hair is...mine was fried...I figured since I worked at a salon I might as well get my fill on hair color and bleaching...) Or sometimes I just go to the salon and get a really good hair wash!

If you blowdry your hair, always blowdry with the nozzle facing downwards. This will smooth the hair cuticle so it doesnt get frizzy (which makes hair look really dull). The smoother the hair, the more shine it reflects. Flat irons work well too. There are lots of shampoos out now that promote shine. If all else fails....get a shine spray!

Hope that helps :)

Check out at your store a shampoo that has special shine ingredients in it. Such as Pantene shampoo, for ultimate shine use the conditioner for added scent and shine, but remember to only condition once a week. To much will just flatten out your hair. That is specially designed to hold that shine in your hair and scent.

Change your shamppo and maybe add a conditioner. I use Herbal Essences shampoo and VO5 conditioner; my hair always smells good and is usually pretty shiny. Also, I read that if you rinse your hair with cool/cold water and/or blow dry it on the cool setting, it makes it shinier. It works, too!

well you can stop experimenting with all the mixed chemicals that are in those shampoo bottles and go for one of two old remedies, mayo or beer those always seemed to work really well when i was a kid.....it seems that people these days have forgotten all the little tricks that the older generations use to use

Get a diff. shampoo, and get some vitamins 2 make ur hair shinier. Get it trimmed often 2- long hair gets split ends easily, and it will b a lot healthier if u get it trimmed regularly.

You need to use conditioner too. You can also try a leave in conditioner or a deep conditioning treatment and trimming the dead ends off your hair. Good luck!
