Go to the Doctor, ask for the Poison Ivy shot. Its the only real thing you can do at this point, and it works amazingly well.

There is no such thing as a poison ivy shot. If you are extremely allergic to it and have hives they will give you steroids and possibly an adrenaline shot.

My son is extremely allergice to poison ivy and he does not have to get contact with it to catch it. He can get it from the dust that flies off the leaves and is airborne.

Poison Ivy has an oily substance that is difficult to get off once it has touched your skin. You can use mild soap and water and change your clothing and wash them immediately and repeat the washing of your skin so you don't have residue on you again.

You can get Caladryl lotion or Calamine lotion from the pharmacy and put it on the rash and be careful not to scratch. Benadryl will help with the itching but it may make you drowsy so be careful when driving and taking this medicine.

If it gets in your mouth and throat and it can, it has happened to my son, see a doctor immediately. Otherwise if it is a mild rash just let it run its course with these medicines. Goodluck.

Some treatments for poison ivy are to cleanse it with rubbing alcohol, and then wash it was water. Don't use soap yet, because it can irritate it. You should then take a shower with warm water and soap. Next you should put gloves on and wash everything that you had with you, including shoes, tools, and your clothes, using rubbing alcohol and water. You can also buy some over-the-counter poison ivy treatments that will help.

Don't touch it - If you touch the rash then touch another part of yourself, the rash will spread. Put on some anti-histamine lotion to stop the itching and redness and wait it out.
