You might need to tweak the exposure a bit. Does the picture look overall dark? If your camera has exposure compensation, push it +1 and see if that works.

If you are using a background for a portrait, then you will need to light the bg separately to avoid light fall off and keep it white. Your camera wants to make things 18% grey, so terisu's answer to try plus exposure comp is a good one, although you will have to be careful to avoid blowing highlights.
