I.e. - "sing" changes to "sung" or "sang" not "singed". - Any examples if there are other words following this rule? If not, why is this the only one?

banged, clanged, fanged, ganged, dinged, kinged, pinged, winged, zinged, gonged, ponged...to name a few.

and as far as the hanged/hung controversy, they are both correct. Hung is used for inanimate objects.

The correct usage is that 'hanged' is used of people and 'hung' of objects.

If you want to pursue your very interesting query, do a little google on the differences between 'strong' and 'weak' verbs. Interesting stuff. Hope you like Anglo-Saxon :-)))

"hang" doesn't change to "hanged," it changes to "hung." Not all people are educated though, so they might not use it in their speech.

Actually, "sing" does change to "sang."

Say it anyway you want, but there is a great difference between:
"The man was hanged." and "The man was hung."
