The camera was purchased within the last year, so Canon will repair it under warranty as long as you have proof of purchase. You do NOT need to have sent in the card that came with the camera. I hope you still have your sales receipt. If not, you might be able to get a copy from the store, but you might have to pay a fee. That would be worth it compared to the price of a repair.

Unfortunately, there really are no good-cheap places to get cameras fixed. If they're good, they aren't cheap. It's highly skilled work. A major repair on your SD600 could easily approach or exceed the price of the camera. That's why it's often not worth it to repair inexpensive and mid-priced cameras like yours.

Here's hoping you have your receipt! Good luck.

I would definitely try sending out the warranty to see if it's still good. It would be worth it if they fixed your camera for free, rather than you having to pay $20 to get it fixed. If that doesn't work, I would talk to an employee at Radio Shack, and they might be able to tell you what places could fix your camera inexpensively.

The warranty should be good, whether or not you sent in the card. Did you save your purchase receipt in the box (or have a credit card statement?)

The camera will need to be sent back to the authorized canon service center. I don't believe any local shops will be able to fix it for you 'cheap'. Very likely it will be covered under warranty.
