Not necessarily. In the past decades, studies were conducted to find out if Left-handers died sooner. What was found, is that it was true. But it was because they tested the oldest elderly and most were righthanded-but it could have been as a result that when those elderly were young there was a tendency to force a left-hander into using the right hand.

Well, I don't think all left-handed people are condemned to an early death. However, statistics do show that left-handed people get into more accidents; therefore, it is possible that very generally speaking they would die sooner. This is NOT because left-handed people aren't as capable at handling normal life tasks as right-handed people. It is because our world is designed for the comfort of right-handed people (majority of people in this world being right-handed). This is seen in the way cars and our driving methods are designed. This makes it more difficult for left-handers. I believe that is a possible cause. :)

No. Being left or right handed has nothing to do with longevity. It is merely an indication of which side of the brain is most adept for coordination with your hand. Most people at a very young age show a preference for one hand or the other.

It has been said that , "Left-handed people die sooner because the stress of trying to find things made for left-handed people kills brain cells. It just means that southpaws are too cool for standard stuff."

A left handed friend of mine died younger....but it was helped along by too much smoking and drinking !

Look after yourself , keep fit.....do things in moderation...and enjoy a long life !

Left handers are better at most sports than right handers !

Most Individual Sports have 40% of the Top Ten Players , who are left handed.....whereas there should only be 10% , as per the ratio of left handers to right handers......

I am a Sport's Coach.....and most Sport's Clubs value left handers ! Think about it......Most people play right handers 90% of the time......so when they play left handers......10% of the time...they are not used to playing them ........but with left handers playing right handers most of the time..they get 9 times more practise.....against right handers ....than right handers do against left handers ! So left handers are naturally hard to play against , for most people !

Hope that helps !

i don't think so..i'm left handed and so are lots of my relatives- never heard anything about making us die sooner.
but we do have to function in a 'right' handers world which makes things a little more dangerous for us!

Looking through the medical literature, I find studies reporting that lefties have a higher accident rate, are more likely to have their fingers amputated due to power-tool accidents, suffer more wrist fractures, etc. What's more, lefties suffer a higher incidence of allergies, epilepsy, schizophrenia, and certain learning disabilities.

Lefties, a 1992 article in the Atlantic notes, also show unusually high frequencies of depression, drug abuse, bed-wetting, attempted suicide, lower-than-normal birth weight, sleeping disorders, and autoimmune diseases.

just found a site that said we lefties die 9 years early then right handers.. check it out!

Since the world favors righties, there is a bigger chance of accident or injury for left-handed people using equipment meant for right-handed people. So, it's possible from that point of view. Also, left-handedness was considered evil (sinister) so you could have been killed for being left-handed in the past!

Lots of myths about us lefties. I'm a lefty, and my life has been anything but normal. I seem to have bad luck in every pursuit. I've often attributed my left-handedness to it all, but I know so many lefties who live completely normal lives.

Bill Clinton, Jay Leno, Bruce Willis and Angelina Jolie are all lefties. It's obvious to me that we think differently than right-handers, but apparently it doesn't affect our pursuits that much, and probably not our lifespan, either.

No, I never heard such a thing! I'm not left-handed but that would be insane if that were true. I think left-handed people use their left side of their brain more.
