I also had a C-section and I began working out after a month. Although, its not recommended that you perform any strenuous activity until after your 6 week check-up and your doctor gives you the green light. I did some light cycling and crunches. My body heals fairly quickly and I've always been active, but each individual is different. If you do decide to start now, pay attention to your body...if it gives you warning signs stop. Don't push through even if you normally would...remember, your body has undergone a major surgery and needs to recover.
Talk to your doctor and Be Careful!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Mother of two c-sec babies. Your body needs time to heal, you may feel up to working but the energy you exert at work is depriving your body of that energy to heal itself. Perhaps the worst part of surgery is recovering.
I would definitely recommend at least 4 wks rest, that is what my OB/GYN recommends for natural delivery moms, us c-sec moms need at least that if not the full 6 wks.
You may be unhappy with your body right now, but focus on your diet and other things you can do in the mean time. Give yourself time to adjust. The uterus isn't shrunk back for at least 4 wks and rushing into a work out plan may do more harm than good at this point. You don't want to tear the tissue and make your wait even longer.
A good guideline to remember is 9 months up 9 months down. Your body didn't get that size overnight, so be realistic. Wear a light girdle to help the uterus have a little pressure to shrink. If you are nursing this will also help the process along.
Take it easy you'll have time to get the body you want.

My doctor asked that I wait until at least 6 weeks post-partum just to make sure that the incision was fully healed. Keep in mind it took 9 months to put on the weight and will take maybe a year to take off normally.

No. Your body needs time to heal. Having a C-Sec is major surgery. The cut is through your muscle and uterus. You would want your uterus to burst. Wait until your doctor says it's ok. Usually after 6 weeks or so.

The best way to know for sure on just how much you cando as far at that goes it to ask your dr, alot of times we feel like we can do certain things , but should still take it easy. These days though they want you up and out of bed and moving asap after surgeries-so providing you had no complications you should be able to start a work out of some type:)

I had a reduction done and I was told not to work out until about 6 mos later so I wouldn't tear the stitches inside and out, and keep my body from healing, so I wouldn't, just have a good diet and do light stuff, like maybe walk for a few minutes to start. Let yourself fully heal, because if you interfere with the process, there's a chance you won't heal correctly.

Well, lets see -- you're not supposed to have sex for 6 weeks, right?
Why in the world would you think it would okay to work out after only 2 weeks?
Ask your OB/GYN if it's okay to push the baby in a carriage and go for a walk or something -- but working out is a little over the top.

Only your doctor can answer that...we don't know all your medical specifics, and don't have the medical knowledge to give you good advice. More power to you, though, for even thinking about working out with a new baby!
