God fearing American is an american who worships a god because they're afraid not to.
Pretty dumb if you ask me. Who what's to worship a god who is so mean?

How do you know for sure that God does not exist?
Have you considered Pascal's Wager?
If the athiest is right then when we are dead, we arejust dead, end of story. The athiest will have lived his life the best way he could, and maybe been a good a good person maybe not. Same for the believer.
But if the Christian is right, there is a God to be loved and feared, if there is a Heaven to be gained and a Hell to be shunned, when the athiest and Christian die, one goes to heaven and the other goes to Hell.
Come now, says Blase Pascal, place your wager, for wager you must. Deciding not to decide, you have already decided, and soon it may be too late to change you mind; too late to believe in God.

God fearing American refers to the time when you could leave your doors unlocked and let your children play in the front yard or even send them to the store without worrying about somebody causing harm. When people would go that extra mile to help you/neighbor out and not ask nor expect anything for the doing. When a man could get a loan from the bank on a handshake - when love and peace were a way of life! But these days god is being taken out of schools , courtrooms, offices, government building, and there are many trying to do away with our earlier beliefs in there being a God. No offense but our society as a whole "without christian beliefs being enforced" Is turning into a pathetic sight.

Well I think this phrase is kind of silly, because as Americans we believe in freedom of religion-- or, in your case, the choice NOT to believe.
But to some people, God DOES exist, and they fear him because he has supreme power. I guess a "God fearing American" is just an American that believes in a God that should be feared.

the "fearing" part of the phrase comes from keeping the masses in line with religion...
I not sure why american money has "god" written on it ... when it is clear to all that no god actually exists... i mean, after all, man kind had to make up the god book(s) and write it himself ! :-)
i used to live in the mid west... now i am glad i left the US, there is an overwhelming sense of religious insanity and illegal war mongering coming out of there.
Just my humble opinion :-)

He DOES exist. Only a fool would look at this computer in front of them and admit that it is intelligently designed (even though they have never seen its designer), and then turn around and say that the human body, which is thousands, if not millions of times more complex than a computer, came about by pure chance. That's not even logical - and I thought atheists worshipped at the altar of logic!
People who are "God-fearing" are at least intelligent enough to recognize the fact that there HAS to be a God. Evolution is a fairy tale for grownups.

God does exist just because you don't see him doesn't mean he is not there you can see wind but you know it is there. Fear god because he has the chose weather you go to heaven or hell but you love him you will be ok give god a chance.

i'm not sure if you really want an answer since i'm assuming you don't believe there is a god. but i'll answer it anyway. 'god fearing' is stage one of believing in god, if you will. in this stage, people believe that god is this menacing, judgmental, punishing creator who will rain down destruction and chaos if you don't live your life fearing god's repercussions. i don't believe that god is like this but many people only believe what they read in the bible...others don't believe in things they can't see....what a pattern.

Why would anyone fear a loving God who created our souls and loves us? Men made up the words sin, hell, and satan. Those words are man made not God made.
I have no fear of God, that is ludicrous.
