Don't think of it in terms of weight loss. How are your close fitting? You might be losing fat and gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. So rather than judge it by numbers on a scale, judge it by how you feel and how your clothes fit.

I lose weight very slowly too. I only lost 7 pounds in a 3 month span of doing all sorts of exercising every day. I found that if I stay away from processed foods like pizza, sweet cerial, hotdogs and canned things I will lose weight faster. I eat mostly veggies and fruit now and eat very small amounts. Sometimes I eat meat but not often.

Have you lost inches? I bet you gained a lot of muscle, that could be one reason. Maybe you're not eating enough, that could be another. You may have syndrome X, which makes it difficult for people to lose weight. Generally in a month a normal, safe weight loss could be 1 - 2 lbs a week or between 4 - 8 lbs. When attempting to lose weight patience and persistence are paramount!

It's likely to be because of your diet, which you haven't detailed?? Diet and exercise come hand in hand.

Oh, and don't go off the scales... If you are lifting weights you may have put on muscle (muscle weighs more than fat). Try measuring yourself instead, what is coming off in inches is much more important than what the scales are saying!

Muscle weighs more than fat- you're gaining muscle, and loosing fat, by toning your body. Your weight may stay the same, but your body is sure to be looking better. Instead of cutting back eating, try eating healthier. Make sure you're getting the proper nutrients your body needs.

It could be that that you are not eating enough. If you aren't eating enough of the right foods, your body goes into starvation mode & will conserve every calorie vs burning it for fuel. You also might not be seeing any movement on the scale because you are building muscle which weighs more than fat. Hang in there, it will come off.

And I was feeling discouraged...I only do about half that!

Try reevaluating what you're eating and how much (low-fat, good carbs, etc) and also the intensity of your workout. If you don't hit your target heart rate, you won't burn many calories. Also, don't beat yourself up. You're averaging a half-pound a week, which may not seem like much now, but it will add up.

the most PROBABLE explanation is that you are building muscle while losing fat based on what you are doing. dont worry about it....weight is just a number! for a more accurate assessment of your progress, try getting your body fat analyzed once a week. this is the number that really matters anyway.

if you haven't been lifting weights before you started you won't notice weight loss right off the bat... you'll be gaining muscles and they weigh some... don't fret, you'll soon have some muscles and they will be loosing weight for you while you sleep...
