just whatever the agency requires as a entry level officer. Then plan on doing at least 5 years as a above standard officer, as a FTO etc.. and plan on getting some skills before you apply...ie Firearms Instructor, Arrest Control, Field Force Instuctor......it's a long road but well worth it in the end

To be a police officer you must have a high school diploma and have successfully completed a state police academy. To get on a SWAT Team you have to meet each jurisdiction's criteria.

First you must be hired by a law enforcement agency, go to the academy (usually 3 months), get on the road and pass the F.T.O. (field training officer) program (usually 5 months), complete your probationary period (usually 1 calendar year), then shoot 90% or better and apply for the SWAT team.

You must have whatever requirements are needed by that department. Then you have to have an spectacular service record and sick record once you've been a police officer for a few years....5-10...then you must complete their training. It also doesnt hurt to have some military background and/or specialty, like explosives expert or sniper.
