Although my boyfriend had been drinking when he told me this but he said that he had had a sexual dream of an old friend of his (female). Why would he say something like that to me??

why is it that women beg men for honesty then get annoyed when it happens?
he told you that because he believs your relationship is strong enough for honest communication and that his lust for someone else does not diminish what he feels for you.
in your heart, you know the answer to this question so don't be swayed by anyone here.

Could be many reasons. You've left much of the context out. It could be as simple as putting your foot in your mouth (which guys are good at, especially drunk guys)... or it could be a sign of serious disturbance in the relationship. Sometimes, dream symbolism is the opposite.. for example, if you heard the rest of the dream, it may have been that he was really dreaming of an experience with you but it was her face! You see, if you are the first he has had strong feelings for since her, then it may be reminding him of her. Dreams can be modes for problem solving... and it can mean he misses her. Is there something sexual she was good at that maybe you refuse to do? He said friend, not ex-girlfriend, so he could be sub-conciously integrating friendship feelings with sexual intimacy feelings (growing up is hard to do)- sort of a brain development and maturity milestone... growing into a person who relates with the heart instead of just the organ.... MAYBE he desires her but chances are a dream is just a dream. Keep your eyes open, try not to be hurt or judgemental letting something that is most likely trivial come between you unnecessarily. Keep your trust and open communication because all strong relationships require freindship as part of it. But haven't you ever had a dream that you yourself, was shocked at and didn't understand? In the end, a dream is just a dream and not real. If you were arguing, then he may have been trying to hurt you, see if you would be jealous, testing the waters so to say... But if you were having a good time, then dont' make more out of it than it is. Guys are obssessed with sex. They really can't help it.

maybe he wanted you to show some interest in the situation.
By that I mean, did you ask him for details about the dreamand then say something, like..... oh I can do better than your dream girl, and then show him you can. Dreaming is not cheating and we really do not have any control over them.
Heck, I still have the occasional dream about my ex wife and I for sure dont want to ride that bus again.The dreams are great tho.
Be very very happy that he is secure enough and loves you enough to even bother telling you about it ,unless he did it in a way to hurt you. If thats the case, get rid of the fool. keeping secrets is the major cause of all relationship failure.
It was just a dream, and dreams are not wishes when you are asleep ,just as wishes are not always dreams. And if you dont have any dreams, dont get out of bed.

It's very possible he was just trying to make you jealous. Sometimes when you're drinking, something sounds like a really a good idea when in reality, it's not. You should probably talk to him about the incident when you're both sober and tell him to keep things like that to himself.

End the relationship and don't resume it until he convinces you beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is no longer interested in his old friend. If you continue, he'll always have the upper hand. You want -- or should want -- a relationship in which both of you are equal.

BC he was drinking and it's prob true...no biggie with guys,,they dream all day and night of things like this..
women too!
don't get paranoid, it's just a drunk verbalizing a dream, nothing more...
insecurities and jealousy will get you nowhere but lost in reality.

bc he was drinking. he could b tryin 2 make u jealous. or he jus could b tryin 2 dump u. but he wants u 2 do it 1st. or an old flame could b tryin 2 get back wit him. jus ask him about it.
