I am a registered breeder of chihuahuas and other small
toy breeds. There is nothing wrong with his behavior...it is
his instinct behavior. You may start seeing this behavior in
puppy litters among each other and all through their adult life.
In fact its not just limited to male dogs...its quite common in female dogs also. Spaying or neutering may help but is not guaranteed to make it stop. Discourage this behavior with a strong scolding.....NO!. They are often startled and will stop.

I have a 9 year old Chihuahua that still does this! I never had her spayed. So if you have him neutered it may reduce the urge. There is nothing wrong with the behavior, but it can be embarassing when you have visitors over. When someone comes over, remove all stuffed animals, house shoes, and dog toys and anything else he might find attractive. Good luck! Chihuahuas are great. Mine is my life!

Its not harmful, but do you really want him to start doing that with everything else i.e. you, guests, every other dog. I would try to curb that behavior ASAP and you can get him neutered. That would be a big help! Its not to early six months is usually the age for that.

No, it's not harmful. He'll probably stop once you get him neutered, although not necessarily.
My aunt had a neutered dog that loved her fuzzy pink slippers....loved in the Biblical sense, lol. It's no biggie, provided the stuffed animal doesn't mind ;-)

Yes, this can cause severe problems down the line with his "equipment" depending how often this is going on. I have seen a case of this where a problem arose (it is suspected) from the dog humping things and as a result damaged the "p. cord" on the dog.
