What do you think of this poem by Bernard Workman?

Question

For Lisa with love:

Will you run to me
In the park today
With your crumpled socks
And your little knees
Like butterfly wings
On a summer breeze;
Will you?

Will you go wheeee
Down a green, green slope
That sends us spinning
Throughout a laughing world,
Where the only echoes
Are you and me,
And perhaps,
Just perhaps
The sound of the sea;
Will you?

Will you take my hand
And show me where
my childhood stopped,
And if I dare,
Through you,
So small,so lovingly tall,
Pluck a thread from days
I thought were lost,
Because I wept and fought
And never listened to the sea,
And never stood with
arms outstretched
On a green,green slope with all the rest;
Will you?

Will you teach me
Little scampering one,
What it is to just have fun,
To ride a horse
astride a chair,
And let it take us anywhere;
Will you?

Will you sit upon
my shoulders high,
And trail your fingers
on the sky,
And fill me to the brim,
and then, Tomorrow
do it all again;

For me the poem is beautiful!
I think of a grown man who has the pressure of the world on his shoulders, and has taken some time to spend with his daughter, and watching her play reminds him of what it was like to be carefree, to be joyful.
'Will you take my hand

Glorious. Very moving. Somehow manages to convey the regret and hesitancy of an adult who feels shut off from the innocent joys of childhood, and at the same time to communicate those joys directly. The voice of the poem holds those two viewpoints simultaneously. It's quite a feat. Thank you for posting it.
