I'm a 5'9, 147lb girl.... Is that fat?? I've lost about 40lbs over the course of the last two years, then I just stopped, i cant loose any more weight, its impossible. I'm trying to loose 10 more lbs for my vacation in the summer... Every time I start a diet, I do very well for a week or two and loose a few lbs, then it spirals downward, and the next week i eat like I've never eaten in my life and gain it all back.... I don't get it?!? advice?

Actually, I believe you're just right! The taller you are the more pounds you can allow yourself. Obviously you can't be Nicole Richie size, but she is about a tall as a fifth grader! So keep height in mind and stick around where you are!

You really don't sound like your fat to me. I'm the same way about dieting then eating cheesecake the next week. I always feel fat when I sit down and can't breath. By the way, I'm 5'1" and weigh 126 lbs. I do a lot of walking and that seems to help. I also drink lots of water and cut out breads. Each person is different, just depends what's right for you. Good Luck to you.

One of the best ways to know where you are in relation to where you should be when it comes to weight is your BMI( body mass index.)

bmi= 703(weight (lbs)/height^2 (in^2) Yours is
21 which is a normal BMI.

A lot of women think they need to look like an anorexic model. That is not only too high of a standard, its dangerous.

With regards to your weight going up and down, you should probably try to develop a steady diet and exercise routine that will eventually become a habit. If you have a hard time controlling your appetite it could mean you're not eating healthy. A lot of times our appetite is our bodies way of saying to us that we aren't giving it the nutrients it needs. Sometimes it will tell us specifically what to eat by cravings. Other times it will just make us hungry and leave it up to us to pick what to eat.

Bottom line - you're not fat. Take care of your body, you only get one.

Being healthy and slim isn't about being on a diet. It's about changing your entire lifestyle.

Your BMI is 21, so you are within a healthy weight range. I'm 5'6" and always weigh around 130 - sometimes the body just settles on its correct weight.

Eat healthy food and make sure you get lots of protein so you don't feel hungry - dairy, eggs, black beans. Allow yourself the occasional junk food like pizza and chocolate cake. Depriving yourself just makes you more likely to binge. Aviod "diet" and "light" foods as well as processed frozen dinners. These have little nutritional value and you'll be hungry within a couple of hours.

Make sure you get 3 meals and 3 snacks every day, so keep blood sugar blanaced and your energy up.

If you have to get TiVo to make it to the gym after work, do it. Rest on the weekends and get caught up on your favorite shows.

It's really not about dieting. It's about living healthy.

This is why instead of trying to diet, you need to develop new eating habits that you can live with. That's what I've done and it works wonders. I don't have to stop eating bread when I want to lose a few pounds anymore, because I've eliminated bread from my regular diet, so it's not longer a problem for me. Get it?

good for you! sounds like you're right where you should be now, but another 10 pounds won't hurt. it's hard when you reach a plateau and nothing will budge the scale. try doing something different. eating more food or less food or doing different exercises can break the plateau. then when you start losing again, go back to your normal habits.
