Hello, im 17 and well my goal in life is to be a surgeon, but now that i realised, i been following the "wrong" crowd in my first 2 yrs of High School (and before that ), which i did'nt do my work and did useless stuff that got me in trouble, now im not like that anymore and im getting very high scores in all my classes and improving everyday, but something still haunts me which is my GPA, those two lost yrs got my GPA down to 1.6, and so far all my hard work had made it to 1.9, my parents always told me that high school is one of the most important yrs of my life, and to follow a proffesion such as mine, i need to push a lot out of myself, and i havent been doing that , Now the school yr is in a near end, and i hope to god, that i had raised my GPA to 2.0 but i know thats not enough, so i dont know what to do next yr, and im scared even after next yr i will still not have enough to enter a college/university.

is there hope?

Yes, there is still hope. Don't EVER give up on your dreams. You may have to enter a 2-year college at first because honestly, a 4-year university might not accept you. Once you prove yourself at a 2-year college, you can transfer to a university and then to medical school. I assume you are in the USA. If not, then you may need to disregard my comments because I am not familiar with rules of higher education in other countries.

You will have to research different colleges to find out their individual policies about required GPA. I have included an excellent resource for your search.

one solution, which you may or may not like, is to start at a community college and try to get your GPA up. It can be done if you carry a full load of classes and work hard. Then you can transfer to a 4 year college and keep your grades up so you can transfer to a university. Good luck to you!

This may not be what you want to hear, but what about going back, knuckling
under and thinking only of your goal. Also what about summer school. It's sad
when we don't take high school seriously. I know of so many kids that frittered
away their time and are facing the same kind of dilemma that you are. You can
change it but it will be hard work. Good luck and I hope that you realize your
dream!! : }
