Your best thing to do is walk straight up to him with out stopping or giving yourself a chance to think about it and ask him out. the worst thing that is going to happen is he is going to say no and you know that he is not the one for you.

does he travel in a group, just go up to him ask him if u can talk to him, if his friends make ooooo noises, ignore them, then just ask him if he wud like 2 go somewher w/ u.
If u dont want to go to him in a group, just wait till hes alone walking in a class door, or if hes in ur class, lunch line...

Just ask him while talking.."Hey, I've been wanting to say this for a while, Do you want to go out?" if he freaks out just say you were joking and laugh and say you can't believe that he actually believed you.
