I have just recently been prescribed glasses for the first time.
My prescription is: Right Eye -2.25 -0.75 175
Left Eye Plano -0.75 176
My optician said that I should only where the glasses to help with eye strain now and again, like when I'm watching TV, driving and when I'm working at the computer. (I work at the computer all day in my job.)
Firstly, I don't drive so that rules that out and secondly I cannot wear them at the computer because they make me feel really dizzy and not able to focus clearly on the screen or the keyboard. I think that the reason for this is because they are specificially for distance and not close up.
If I had know this before I bought them I would have thought twice about spending so much money on them for just watching some TV, especially when my left eye is so good.
What do you think?

you have to buy a special screen protector for your computer that reduces the strain it gives your eyes.

Wear them a little bit at a time. Your eyes will eventually adjust to the glasses. Wear them when you think it's necessary. If you're having trouble reading something, put them on. If your having trouble seeing the TV, wear them then. That's kind of the great thing about glasses - You can take them off and put them on with no hassles or drawn out processes.
That said, you don't want to put a lot of strain on your other eye as that will eventually lead to unbalanced and poor binocular vision. Glasses take some getting used to. Especially if you made such a large jump in prescription. (Your prescription looks medium-ish to me. - I've gone through two prescriptions and I'm still not at 2.00 in either eye.) I think that's a second or third pair of glasses for most people.
When you get glasses that late in the game, you've become accustomed to not being able to see for many years. Just keep wearing the glasses, eventually everything will come into focus for you.
Unless of course your eye doctor is just incompetent...

The reason you get dizzy is because you are used to seeing a bit blurry. Since everything is much clearer now, plus the bends that you get from wearing the glasses, you will get dizzy. Wear it and get used to it. If you really cant take it, take your glasses off for a few minutes. When you feel a bit better, wear them again.

Get a pair specially tailored for viewing you PC screen.
The 'dizzyness' is also due to the fact that your eyes are not used to seeing things through the lenses.
I got a pair for PC work and it made all the difference.

The lenses might be wrong or something. Even though its a pain going back you might have to because your eyes could get worse from not wearing them or even wearing them. Good Luck.

only wear them when you really need them and when your eyes are tired . try to do without them when you can . I found from my own experience that my eye sight has only deteriorated since I started wearing glasses. now I cant do without them and I find it very frustrating at times
