In Philipians4:6 & 7, it says,"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." He refers to
repetitious prayers, as prayers from pagans.
Jesus tells us to "cast all of your cares on Me and I will give you rest." He Wants us to come to Him with our troubles and cares. He doesn't want us to carry it around- He cares more than anyone else can, about what we think, and how we feel. James 4:8, says "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you."
He WANTS a close and personal relationship with you! Just like any other relationship, it's a two-way. Same with prayer, it's a two-way.
Have you ever met someone, that every time they came to you, they repeated the same things, the same stories over and over again, 'til you knew them by heart? Or been with a person who loved to talk so much, you couldn't get a word in edge-wise? Or a person who maybe has alot of problems, but refuses to listen? It's all one-sided, and that's how God feels. Think about how it feels, when a friend only comes to you, when they have a problem-when all is well again, you never hear from them, (until or unless they have another problem)
. Then think of those people, who are really, really, hurting on the inside, but will not ask for help. How frustrating is that to us? Think about how the Lord feels, to be right there, as close as your breath, knowing all about you, standing right with you, feeling all your fears and all your pains, with His arms open wide, and yet we utter not a word. How deeply this hurts Him-Even a simple thankyou is nice-He wants us to "acknowlege Him, in ALL our ways"
Scripture says to"Come boldly, to the Throne of God" to, "Ask whatsoever ye will, believing, and it shall be done", to,"seek Him with all of out hearts", He said,"My sheep know My Voice." In one place, He even calls us "friends"
He is my Best Friend, my Confidant, my Comforter, my Teacher, my Father, my All" I tell Him everything-I talk to Him, just like I talk to anyone else. I learned along time ago, it is ALWAYS best to come to Him first-He already knows all about these things that we struggle with and carry around, He wants us to say it, to tell Him, to give it to Him. He cares very DEEPLY, about everything about us.
He is very meek and mild, and VERY much a Gentleman at Heart-He will not force Himself on anyone who doesn't want His help, or doesn't believe, or doubts Him.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My Voice, and opens the door, I will come in and sup with him, and they with Me." --Rev3:20
Just think of it this way, He's the ONLY one, who truly understands, He is the One, who is closer than a brother, when the world lets you down, He's there, and He has promised you,....... "I will never leave you, or forsake you......."

Of course.
Jesus used the prayer in Matthew 6 as a MODEL prayer. Showing how to pray respectfully and for God's will to take place. But I'm sure God loves it when our prayers are straight from the heart.

I talk to God the same way I talk to a friend. I do use a different type of language though, less slang, more respectful terms, but in our religion, there are only a few set prayers. The rest are for us to make up as we go. I don't think God likes to hear the same thing over and over. I think He likes to hear what's really in our hearts and likes to know that we think of Him like a friend.
I do have a sort of set "schedule" for my prayers. I start by addressing Him as my Heavenly Father, or just God works to, then thanking Him for all my blessings and for anything I'm thankful for. Then I ask for things that I need, or questions that I need answers too. Then I close in the name of Christ. But everything after the opening up to the closing is all my own words.

It's absolutely okay to make up your own prayers. I'm Catholic to, and I love the ability to meditate when saying the Rosary and all. I also like saying some of the other prayers because they say it all so well.
But when I'm falling asleep at night...I pray in more of a conversational way. I just kind of talk to God. I pray for my family, for my friends and for myself.

That is a problem with the catholics, vain prayers. Of course it is ok to make up your own. Every individual needs different things. Why would we all just pray the same thing?

There is no rule in Catholicism that you cannot speak to God in your own words. Period. I am sure he is waiting to hear from you! If you are wondering if it is okay to compose your own prayers, well, the prayers we pray were written by the Saints, so yes, I would say that's fine, but take care to stay humble and united to the Church.

I hope in the catholic religion that they can. It would seem wrong if you could not. God loves us and cares about us and wants us to express are selfs and let him know how we feel.
I am a Mormon and in my church we open meetings with a prayer and close with a prayer in meetings from members. There is never a precher or someone who speaks every single time. They speak from the heart not in repetition. In the bible it says never to prayer in repetition that is for the hethen.

of direction you will possibly be able to make your own prayers! Praying is in basic terms a communique - you're chatting with God (and with a bit of luck listening too! to not an audible voice, yet...). So, you could refer to God as you will possibly refer to all people else. There are all forms of publications for praying. ACTS is one: Adoration Confession Thanksgiving Supplication (intercession) So, giving compliment to God, bringing Him your problems, thanking Him for issues on your existence, and praying for others. it fairly is a elementary trend that a lot of human beings use, yet, the certainly words and stuff are completely as much as you.

Prayers are petitions to God. If you don't make up your own-then how could you hope for an answer to someone else's prayer. Yes, absolutely, you should "ALWAYS" make your own prayers.

It is VERY okay to pray to God from your heart. The Bible says not to say the same prayer over and over again.
