I can feel a little lump in my gum and all I wanna do is grind or chew that tooth! It can be a little sensitive in the cold weather but usually dies down after an hr or so & it's been for a couple of days now. No pain btw! Should I go to Dentist tomorrow?I'm going on hols Sunday for a week!

Yes, do go to the dentists before you go off on your hols; you don't want a ruined holiday! When there's an abcess, you end up with almost unbearable toothache and often a swollen face. Then you need to take an antibiotic to get the swelling down, before the dentist can touch it. Hopefully it's something else that the dentist can sort out quite quickly. Have a great holiday!

It sounds like you have a fistula. The fistula is the result of an abscessed tooth .The abscess is an infection that first forms around the apex or tip of the root. If left untreated the infection will begin to erode the bone around the tooth. You are most likely going to need root canal in order to save the tooth.

Please please please go to the dentist tomorrow. I had a minor toothache on one tooth, it felt a little sensitive. Over the next couple of days it got worse and worse. I could feel a bump in my gum. I was away for the weekend so couldnt do anything. When I got back on Sunday (after two nights of not sleeping, and basically overdosing on paracetamol and nurofen to no effect) I tried to get an emergency dentist and couldnt. Went to emergency doctor at hospital and they prescribed antibiotics. Wouldn't give me painkillers as I was already "dangerously overdosed". Another sleepless night of pain, I was literally crying, the got to the docs next day, who gave me more antibiotics and eventually some codiene. Which didnt help. I was also vomiting after taking every tablet because my body was in shock. Finally got to dentist, who x-rayed me and I had an abcess the size of a malteser at root of tooth. He cut the top of my tooth off to clean it out (in the root canal). I usually do not like injections in my mouth, but the pain of these was nothing compared to the pain of the abcess. Finally had a pain free day, until the injection wore off. After a couple of days, the antibiotics kicked in, and the codeine started working. Had to go back to the dentist, who hollowed out the tooth, sucked all the badness out and filled it. I was lucky that he was able to save the tooth.
I have never ever felt pain like this before - it was all encompassing, and I could not think of anything else - I have had kids, one 14 hour labour, one emergency section and one planned section and none of this compared to the pain of the tooth.
So please get it checked out before you go away - it could ruin your holiday or cost you loads if you have treatment while away Act now before it gets really bad.

You should get your tooth checked by your dentist. Abscess is spelled 'a-b-s-c-e-s-s' by the way.
