Ugh!? Don't you hate when people can not understand you? I know you can't take him to the vet because he is so scared, and vicious. He seems like he is an outside cat, so what I would do...is keep putting some ointment on it, and keep wrapping it with band aides. I would also try and put some peroxcide before the ointment. This will keep it from getting any worse.
Don't worry about it. I know people say mean things and make you sound like the bad guy. Yes, he is your cat because you feed it and take care of it, but he's not a cat you chose to keep right? I'm thinking maybe more a stray cat who you feed, and give some TLC. =)

Is he an outside cat? Sounds like he was in a fight and was bitten. The best thing to do is take him to a vet (or have the owner do so) because it could be infected and if it gets worse enough he could die. I think the ointment may help, but it's really best to have a vet look at it and decide what is best.
Hope this helps!

Hon, he has an abcess, probably from another cat's bite. Can you put him in a cat carrier and take him to the vet? It's best that he gets an antibiotic injection; he could, conceivably, die from the wound, if it develops into gangrene.
If that's just impossible, the wound needs to be opened up and drained, and swabbed with rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide, then Neosporin applied twice a day. It's VERY important to keep that wound open so that the pus can drain from it.
But please find a way to take him to the vet Hon, even if you have to borrow a carrier. (Or a box will do.) Even if he's not really yours, I can see that you care about him. And if he's not neutered, getting him neutered will drastically cut down on his fighting.
Hope all goes well, Hon.

Don't put bandaid on it (he will only tear the bandaid off anyway). It is probably an abscess that is draining. Allow it to continue draining, possibly using a warm washcloth to wipe it clean. What happens with an abscess is that it fills with fluid until it bursts. Sometimes a vet will put a string through the abscess that he would have the client move through the abscess in order to keep the wound open and draining, until the fluid was gone and then the string would be removed and it could heal up. I've had a couple of strays get into fights and end up with abscesses, and they've always healed up on their own, with a bit of TLC from me. But if you are able to take him to the vet, it would be a good idea just to have him get a rabies vaccination and a FVRCP vaccination, just to keep him safe.

If he's feral there is no telling what has happened to cause this. Obviously it is infected. Find a pet cage..entice him into it and take to a vet. Usually when a vet knows that you have found an animal and are trying to care for it he will help you out $ wise. But be sure to give the background of this cat to your vet..so noone gets bitten, scratched etc. You are to be commended for trying to help this stray. Good Luck

He could've got bit, or it sounds like an abcess. (basically a really, really, big zit.) It'll have to drain on it's own if you can't take it to the vet. If you care for this wild kitty, and I were you..I'd set an animal friendly trap for him and once he's in, take him on over to the vet.
Once there, they can tranquilize him and do what needs to be done. With any luck, you'll be in and out and home before he fully wakes and he'll be confused as to what happened.
If you do do this, and he is still groggy when you return home...I'd set the cage down on the ground and leave it open so he can exit on his own.
Or in your house..wherever you decide to have him if you make it to the doc.
Good luck hun!

I would think it would be an abcess, in which case he should be on antibiotics and also have it completely drained. If there is any way to get him to a vet, please do. Abcess's are uncomfortable and painful. If left untreated, it could get severly infected.
It is basically from probably another cat biting him...the tooth is long and narrow, there is bacteria on the tooth, so when the tooth entered the body it basically made a pocket that is infested with bacteria.

It sounds like your cat got bit by another animal. Buy a large bottle of hydrogen peroxide.Try to get close enough to the cat to pour the peroxide directly on the wound twice a day. The fact the wound is draining is a good thing.

If he got bit, it could have abseced, which yes it can kill him. Sounds as if it is infected. He needs to be taken to the Vet ASAP, and but on topical and oral antibotics!!
Get a cat trap from your local Humane Society, the vet can gas the cat when you get him there.

If he's not your cat, but you're taking care if it, legally it is YOUR cat. You need to either take the cat to the vet or to the humane society. If you give them the cat, you are not liable.
