It is sad when anyone has Cancer. For Elizabeth Edwards her Cancer has spread to her bones and is incurable. However, it is treatable but she will live with it the rest of her life. Her attitude is wonderful and she is determined to continue on with her husband's campaign. That takes a lot of courage to do that.
My mom and sister are both cancer survivors and even though, their cancer's were different, Cancer is serious disease no matter how you look at it. When we have Faith and Hope in our lives, we can do anything and I believe that about Elizabeth Edwards and her family.

I am afraid that the particular type of cancer Mrs. Edwards has is uncurable. The rest of her life is going to be a challenge. My mother had this same cancer and her bones became so brittle that she broke a rib just rolling over in bed.

Her cancer is breast cancer that has advanced to the bone! It's not bone cancer! It is not curable because it has advanced to the bone that is apart of our continuous circulatory system. She will be treated as a chronic cancer patient! She will have treatment for the rest of her life. As long as the cancer doesn't progress she can manage it with daily medication. It is a shame that it has resurfaced but with the medical care she will received she should be ok! I take care of many patients who continually live a long healthy life with cancer!

Can't answer directly but will say that I know a little about her heart. She is an immensely generous, smart woman. She would have made the better candidate.
Just sorry that they don't have a strong, spiritual 'shepherd' who could help guide their decision making. He's likely to drop out of the race but for right now, it helps to pretend.

I think it's sad too. But she herself said that it's containable, even if not curable. If it were me, I'd be worried, but I think the Edwards are much more familiar with their own situation than am I.

It's incurable. It showed up in her ribs, she now has bone cancer. Treatment can let her live several years, assuming it doesn't spread to other organs.
