The weather would affect this. Obviously, colder weather will slow decomposition down for the same reasons our food lasts longer in fridge. Other than that, you have to wait for bacteria and insects to break it down. This would take weeks, I'd say a couple of months. You could do an experiment. Mark a fresh sample of dog waste with a chalk circle around it or a small flag, etc. Try to pick a location it won't be disturbed in. Then check on it every day and take notes and see how long it takes. Get back to us with the results.

A long time and If it is hot it stinks a lot. I live in Vienna Georgia and I have 4 dogs and if I don't go out and mow it down and then hopefully it rains....It is bad. The heat and dry weather is a problem for this.

are you doing a science project for school on this..i would have to say about 2 to 3 weeks.. as it rains it washes some of it away.. if it rains harder it washes it way faster.. if it is hot it drys it out and falls a part.. and of course the files look at it as a all day buffet

From experience...about 3 months. My neighbor never cleans his yard up after his dog. So..when it's warm out you can imagine the lovely outdoors smell we get.
It sure ain't roses.
Or it stays until you pick it up, or another dog comes n eats it!!
Gotta admit..that one was good!!
