My dog will be flying in the cargo department in his kennel soon. I know dog's aren't supposed to wear regular collars when in their kennel but is it ok to leave his harness on him?

My reasoning for wanting to keep his harness on him is so that he will still be wearing his tags.

He already has a microchip. Unfortunately a chip is only effective if someone actually takes him to a vet or shelter that has a scanner.

I think its a good idea, you can put his tags on the harness ring too, very helpful just in case.

Also helps with controlling the dog when it gets to its destination and the crate is opened up. I am sure he is going to want to run out of it by then.

One recommendation though, please make sure the day they fly that the weather is warm/cool enough for them. Remember that the cargo hold is not heated or air conditioned.

I brought my dog to Holland, and back two years later, but only because I flew with her on a dog friendly airline such as KML. I had the appropriate sized carrier, her international papers, and flew there non-stop. You must follow the rules of the airline and make sure your pet is in tip-top shape as this is a stressfull experience. I would not want my baby harnessed or hindered so buy the best carrier you can afford. If your dog is very tiny you may be able to put him in a carrier under your seat. Please make sure you know where to pick-up your dog so he does not
wait too long for you to pick him up. Best of luck! Liz

If your worried about losing you dog you can go to the vet and get a chip put in their back. My dog has one just in case. it is inexpensive. Here a website to take a look at.
