Writing numbers and letters backwards is normal for six years old. It's still a thinking process for her, whereas we write out of habit. Much of a child's writing skills comes from watching someone else directly across from them. If the other person moves their hand to the left to make the "R" loop, the child moves their hand in the same direction, which unfortunately is the opposite direction for them. When teaching a small child to write, sit beside them, not across from them.

The "R" sound is difficult to learn and do for little kids. It will come with time. (Even though Marie Osmond did make a killing singing "Paper Roses" as "Paypa Woses".)

I remember when I was a kid I had a similar problem with R's. I would recommend just practicing her with the R's and get her to mimic your correct sounds in some simple words. I don't think it's a big problem. My parents weren't really concerned about it and it went away.

For the "r" part of it, my little brother used to do that when he was little, but he's fine now.
I would inquire about the speech program in her school, perhaps.

As for the letters and numbers backwards, its one of two things.
1. She needs to practice more.
2. She is dyslexic (sorry about the spelling).

I would ask her speech teacher or nurse to check for that.

Well, I hope everything turns out well!
