Getting your teeth straightend will help you with heath benefits in the long run. Having crooked teeth can cause you to have more cavities bc its harder to get between cracks to get out the plaque and tarter build up. Also if your bite is off this can cause you problems with your jaw and even give you headaches. This will also give you a better chance of fighting off gum diseases, which have also been linked to heart problems as well.

Depending on the severity of the condition orthodontic treatment can offer cosmetic and significant oral health benefits.
Teeth age along with the rest of the human body. A set of teeth aligned and functioning in an optimum position will be less likely to exhibit signs of age effects like wearing away and chipping/fracturing. Though not usually the single cause, a poorly aligned dentition can contribute to jaw discomfort and TMD (often referred to as TMJ)

There absolutely can be health benefits to straightening teeth. It can make a difference in the way you are able to clean your teeth, and also the way you are able to bite and chew your food. Cosmetics are important, but function and health come first.

Straight teeth help keep help your jaw in alignment. When your teeth are crooked you do not chew correctly and this forces a misalignment of the jaw. Crooked teeth also cause undue wear and tear on the teeth because they are striking in the wrong places. It also causes problems with the gums which can lead to gum disease.

If it isn't a cavity or a filling, etc. I'm pretty sure it's considered cosmetic.
