I found my wedding location in January, the only problem was that we didn't have the 7,100.00 for the deposit. Well now we are almost to that mark and I called to day to schedule a date to sign the contract and someone else booked our date on Monday. We were looking at June 21, 2008. They have every other date in June open. Should we change the date of our wedding, or should be go back to the drawing board and try to find a new location (We have been engaged for over a year and have been looking for a location for 9+ months). Any suggestions would be great (including other nice dates in Chicago during the early summer). Thanks

The location that we chose is not in the city it is in the west suburbs (we are trying to stay out of the city).

Also the date doesn't have any special meaning, we were just told that the 3rd week in June in Chicago is the best for a outdoor wedding (which is what we are having)

The $7,100.00 is not a problem. It comes off the final cost of the wedding, the final cost of things are what matter to me and the location I chose (The Narnia Estate) is actually cheaper then the location we initially chose and the atmosphere is much more us, very relaxed and intimate but able to hold over 100 people.

If you love this place, change your date. If you love your date, change the place. Either is fine. Personally, I'd change the date.

Edit: I live near Chicago. The third weekend in June is just the same as the second or the fourth. Just remember that the later you go, the hotter it gets.

We went through the same thing... buy the time we got enough money to pay the church and the cater... our date was gone almost 1 1/2 years out. We personally just changed the date because we really wanted the hall.
I would change the date instead of redoing everything.. it's going to be stressful and you'll constantly be comparing it to the original place you wanted.
1 week isn't going to make or brake you....
AND QUICK DO IT BEFORE THE NEXT ONE BOOKS OUT!!

You have to decide which is more important, the date or the location. Keep in mind that the 3rd weekend in June is fathers day weekend, many people have family plans for that. Good luck

I would just change the date, if your invites have not been printed and the date held no special meaning then I would rather have the venue I wanted and a different date. I had to do this also but I only had to move my date up one week so it wasn't a huge deal.

If your date doesn't have any significance other than a good day to have a wedding, the 2nd weekend in June should work out just as well! It will be the same weather.

If the location you choose is really great, just change the date. If the location doesn't mean that much to you, change the location and keep the date. Good luck and God Bless your marriage.

It depends which is more important to you? I'm from chicago, there are soo many different options, now that you have money to put down, why don't you try looking at a few places, and if you don't see anything then change your date.

Looks like you better start hunting for another location. That much money for a deposit is outrageous, no matter how fancy-dancy the place is. Think you got saved from being "took".

Ditch Chicago and elope to Vegas and get married by Elvis...I know how you feel I was looking for a location and they already booked it for the date I wanted its tough to make everything perfect. Good Luck.

Hun, if the location is what you have your heart set on - then change the date. You might spend forever regretting it if you don't
