If someone had told me it was possible a year ago I would have laughed in their face. Today, I know without a doubt it is entirely possible as well as fun and rewarding.

Yes. I have several - all over the country. I have met many - I have flown to their homes and stayed with them and celebrated Mass in their living rooms.
I went on a trip to New Orleans back in the 90's with a whole group of people who all met in a religious chat room!

I think it is entirely possible to meet and form relationships with people you meet on the net. A mate of mine is engaged to a women who is very nice. However, I believe it is also possible to meet 'not so nice' people on the net as well. I would be interested to know if your bloke was the first man you had met on line or if you had a few other meetings with 'unsuitable' blokes first. It's just like life I suppose, you never marry your first crush or girl/boyfriend do you? I suppose you probably wouldn't marry the first bloke you met online either then would you?
Unless he was perfect for you that is, but that raises another issue then doesn't it?

In my opinion i dont think it's possible unless you lower your "standards" for friends/relationships. Love/Friendship is based off of life experiences. Meaning that without those instances in your life where they are around it is VERY hard if not impossible to nurture a relationship. Now i do not know the details, but if you "Met" them online and spend time together than yes it is possible. But can you truely call it an internet relationship. You just got their name, and other information and met them. It's actually "safer" than normal means. If both sides are truthful. But if the majority of your relationship is through the internet, can you be sure of their trust, commitment? You have nothing to go on but text. And possibly a webcam. Each of us as individuals must ask ourselves do we trust books, and typed words, over our own experiences? In society today we are forced to trust these images and they let us down because we cannot experience these things ourselves. As human beings we rely on our emotion and 6th sense of others to determine our levels of trust and commitment. Meeting someone on the internet removes these things in which we rely. I'm not going to say it's not a real friendship, or it cannot be done. But i am saying that something about the situation is not as it seems. Either your discription of "meeting" them on the internet has more to it, or maybe your standards of friends differ from my own, or others. But for the sake of this question i do stand by my word that a friend on the internet is not the same, and is virtually impossible. (no pun intended)

I am married to a man I met online :) I was 17, in highschool :) I was online during class and started talking to him. We met, and I moved in with him right after I graduated. We got married a year later. We were christians then, of course. My husband was saved after we were together for about a year. He is now our sunday school teacher at church, and in classes to be a missionary. 3 other couples at my church also met online, before they were christians of course. I believe you should, as a christian, meet your mate in church, not online. But it did work out good for me, when I wasnt a christian!

It is possible. I met a cool person on the Web that i am friends with to this day! It's possible, but you just have to be careful about how far to take it. Start at one, but don't rush it.
