If I understand your question in the way that you presented it, then you have already made up your mind what you believe. Christianity has always been about your right to believe or not.
But if you are simply seeking to understand the minds of others, then the answer is "yes." I do believe in the story of the great flood as found in the Book of Genesis. And there are numerous articles that can be found in magazines and even online that give proof that the flood did exist.
Just one example: Evidence of fossil remains of sea creatures found at the tops of mountains all throughout the world. Carbon dating proving not millions of years old, but thousands of years ago.
However, if you ask an honest (HONEST) scientist if they can prove that the flood never existed, the answer is always a resounding "no." The facts remain true. People will believe what they want to believe from the scientists that they want to believe them from.

Sure. Why not? Is believing in the flood any more difficult than believing that Jesus walked on water, cured the sick with a word, or came back from the dead? Or believing that Moses parted the sea?
----------edit-------
BTW, every culture around the world (including the Chinese and the ancient Maya) has a similar global flood myth (see the link, below). If you do NOT believe in a literal global flood, then you have to come up with a logical explanation for that.

Floods are powerful natural events that could endanger an entire population. It doesn't surprise me that many cultures would have a myth of a great flood. But covering the entire Earth? Impossible. The earth in this case means a wide area of known territory.

It is a little "out there" to believe that the ENTIRE Earth was covered, killing all land life; although other cultures did document a large amount of rain and flooding during the same time, even they say that it didn't cover the globe.

Yes- If you believe in God and have a personal testimony of him through the holy ghost then you just know these things are true. You cannot pick and choose what you want to believe that is writtin in scripture wrote by holy prophets.
When you carry the spirit it tells and confirms all. This is a feeling that cannot be denied.

Yes, even though I am skeptical, even though I think it did not happen exactly that way...I do think that it or something similar happened, perhaps in only a small part of the world. I believe the story may be an analogy and used as a lesson. In truth though, I believe.
