Are there any prepaid cell phone providers in Anchorage, Alaska?

It would be a gift, so "regular" post-paid accounts are NOT an option.

I've looked at Tracfone, t-mobile, and Cingular. None of them offer prepaid service in Alaska. Are there any other carriers out there that do? The use on it would be minimal (10 minutes a week, perhaps).

Sprint doesn't offer pre-paid directly. Apparently, Boost and STI Mobile run on the Sprint network, but don't offer service in Alaska.

I'll check with Verizon.. thanks. :)

Oops, Verizon doesn't offer it either.

Anything for Alaska folks? Is there just no cell phone service there?

I believe Cellular One works in Alaska. I used to work for cingular and what we found out was Alaska has its own private towers and what not and would not allow other carriers to come in Alaska to allow service.

What about Verizon or sprint. Your on-line just type in prepaid phones in the search engine and look it up.
