I ususally just put the sandwich together and butter each side and then put it in the pan and turn it on. If the pan is too hot when you place the bread on, the bread will burn and there won't be enough time to melt the cheese. And you don't have to flatten the sandwich with the spatula, only do that if you're having trouble getting the cheese to melt. good luck and remember to turn off the stove when you're done, even adults can forget to do that.

Put a non-stick frying pan on the stove and heat it up on medium high. Meanwhile, *quickly* place one or two slices of cheese between your bread slices. Take soft butter an place a thin layer on one side of your sandwich, making sure to cover all exposed bread. Put your sandwich butter side down on the pan to let it begin cooking. Take more soft butter and spread it evenly and thinly on the part of the bread that's facing up at you (at this point, the cheese hasn't begun melting yet, so you can actually lift the bread up and butter it that way--much easier! Place the bread back on the sandwich making SURE that the buttered side is facing out toward you. Let the sandwich cook for a few minutes, checking every few seconds to see if it needs to be flipped. Once it's golden brown, flip it with a pancake turner and cook the other side until done. Turn the stove off, put your sandwich on a plate, and voila!
PLEASE do not smush your sandwich into the pan. It's really not necessary. :)

Take two pieces of bread.
butter one side of each slice.
heat the pan. when the pan is hot.
Place one slice of bread, butter side down on the hot pan. Then put one or two pieces of cheese on top of non buttered side, place 2nd piece of bread, butter side up on top.
It should look like a sandwich.
cook fist side until it is brown, then flip the hole thing over and brown other side, good luck

the way i make mine is, you heat the pan over medium heat, spray it with cooking spray, spread butter on two pieces of bread, open the cheese, place one piece of bread, butter side down in the pan then your cheese and then the other piece of bread, butter side up. let sit for a couple minutes (til it is as brown as you like) then flip over and cook the other side. make sure the cheese is melted and don't over brown the bread cause it wont taste good. BE CAREFUL AND DON'T BURN YOURSELF!!

pretty well, but I like to toast all 4 sides of my bread in the butter, just so I don't have part of it all soggy. you know what I mean. some people like to butter their bread, but don't do that, because then the butter won't be hot enough, and it's just going to absorb into you bread, and you'll have a soggy mess.
