In Pagan mythology, deities were "sustained" through ritual sacrifice. Somehow in Christian theology, Jesus is known as the sacrificial lamb. Sometime during the development of the Catholic Church, the doctrine of substitutionary atonement was developed.
If a similar mythology develops around Saddam, then I suppose he would be considered a sacrifice too.

Saddam was not blameless. Nobody would dispute that Jesus was killed for no reason other than the Jewish leaders of His time wanted to shut Him up.
Also, Jesus pretty much volunteered to die for us. He really didn't want to, but He loved us too much not to and this was the only way. Saddam did not have the option of calling down legions of angels to get him off of the noose. Saddam died for what he did. Jesus died for what you and I did. That is the definition of a sacrafice.

Jesus allowed himself to be captured by the Jews and executed by the Romans for a crime that he did not commit. At any time he could have gotten away and avoided it. He was a perfect man who willingly gave his life. Saddam was executed for crimes that he committed against his own people.

The Bible says the "the wages sin pays is death." Jesus was sinless. He hadn't inherited sin from a human father. He didn't deserve to die. At any time, he could have called upon his Father to rescue him. He willingly gave his life.
Saddam was a sinful human.

The children of Israel offered sacrifices to cover their sins, foreshadowing Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.
Christ's shed blood on the cross is what takes away sin.

Saddam was neither innocent nor willing. But Jesus allowed it to happen to pay for our sins. He was completely innocent and had the power to get away.

It was a sacrifice because Christ could have stopped it at any time. He knew the only way for us to be able to live again, and to be resurrected was through His death. But because of us needing to have the option of eternal life, He choose to allow people to hurt Him, to kill Him. It was all part of a bigger picture. Christ did this unselfishly, without thought to His own person, or to what HE wanted. It was all part of His Father's plan.
Saddam needed to die for what he did to people. He was a horrible man who did nothing in life but what he wanted to do. There was no thought for anyone else, nothing but his own pleasure. He killed entire villages just because he wanted to!! There was no thought for human life, no thought for anything but himself!! There is no way to compare the two men at all!!!
