Someone had told me something about it being against the law to be in the passing or overtaking lane on the highway and not actually passing (they are driving as slow or slower than the other lane). Why do these people never get caught? Is this an actual law? This morning, the lady in front of me was doing the same as the guy next to her - There were 5 cars behind her and she was driving about 64 in a 65. Can I just run into her a couple of times? That would make me feel better at least.

I totally agree! I live in Florida and think it is the worst about people driving slow in the fast lane! It is not against the law but it is a common courtsey and is stated in the driver's manuel. I think everyone should be required to re-read it once a year.

It depends where you're at. In an urbanized area, or where traffic is very heavy, or where there are 3 or more lanes, no. There's no lane discipline, nor any law that would enforce it. All the lanes are needed for traffic.

Out in the lightly traveled rural interstates, lane discipline is the "code of the road" and in most states, the law. Left lane for passing only.

Most people in the world walk to work. You have the amazing privilege of being able to travel at 64 mph. If you need to be violent and destructive because you can't go 66 MPH, then you are tragically overprivileged. What's wrong with you!!??

Here in Texas signs are posted on many interstates " Left lane for passing only " This is the case in many other states and other countries of the world . In Mexico "carril isquiredo solo para rebasar " In Germany they give tickets for not yielding . Two or three cars can jam the entire freeway if the car on the left is driving the same speed as the car on the right.

I believe most states do have this law. But they don't enforce it for some reason beyond my understanding.

I usually go around them. It's not worth wasting your time and getting all worked up, especially if you are going TO work. It messes up your day and and your mood.

yes slower traffic is require to stay right but its also illegal to speed so if they are going the speed limit then they are within their rights slower traffic means slower than speed limit
